'men know how to use the phone.' this is my favorite chapter. greg points out that it is crazy to believe that sometimes men are just too busy to call. he says that men, like women, like to be happy and are comforted by talking to the girl they are into. 'if i were into you, you would be the bright spot in my horribly busy day' [page 23]. therefore nothing would stop him from calling. and it's so easy with cell phones and all. i mean, everyone takes a bathroom break!
the lesson: when he says he will call you tomorrow, and then apologizes that he didn't because he was too busy, he might just be lying. cause there's no such thing as too busy to call. how do you know when they mean it? 'you know they mean it when they actually do what they said they were going to do' [page 27]. this makes sense, don't we want a man who keeps his word?
'he should respect and care for you enough to call you, if only because he knows that it will make you happy' [page 29]. this is what i think, too! but it is hard. maybe he was busy. liz chimes in that sometimes we think 'i like him so damn much that i'm willing to be patient and see how it all turns out' [page 31]. again, we are supposed to stop making excuses for him. he is hurting our feelings and we are better than that.
