yesterday, my daughter told me of how her teacher mentioned that valentine's day wasn't a holiday. i could tell this surprised her, but i had to agree. perhaps i'm bitter because nothing special ever happens in my life on valentine's day. the year before last i exchanged [very late] christmas gifts with a girlfriend and the kids. last year i took my daughter out to dinner [i decided i would try to be normal]. though i am dating someone this 'holiday,' i have to work all day on monday. so this year is out, too.
