the hula hoop lady was arrested. as most norfolk residents know, Pamela Brown hula hoops daily at wards corner. she is developmentally disabled and plays the radio while she hoops in the median of a busy intersection. as far as i know, she has been doing this for years and years. now, someone called the police as a noise violation, the officers tried to arrest her, and things went bad. she has no memory of the event (she has short term memory loss after an accident in 1977) and goes to court tomorrow.
yesterday, some members of the community came out to support her, hula hooping on the same corner.
something just seems wrong when officers have to repeatedly tase a woman like this.
