it seems to always be bad news for the local zoo.
today, the ailing Monica, a 38-year-old elephant, was euthanized.
also, a pair of eagles that recently hatched babies has suffered tragedy. yesterday, the female bald eagle was killed when she collided with an airplane. today, the eaglets are removed from the nest under the assumption that the father eagle cannot care for them.
