I have been (fortunate) enough to be part of the search committee for the hiring of a new dean for the college of arts and letters. This has, a you can imagine, been an ongoing process for months.

After narrowing down the candidates to eight, we interviewed them at an off-campus location. We conducted the interviews in the last two days (fall break). Though the last two days were long and grueling, the interviews were successful. We selected three candidates and an alternate for campus interviews. For me, it was an insightful process.

I am happy, however, to be returning to class as normal today.
