i'm defending my dissertation proposal tomorrow. people say that this first half defense is harder/more stressful that the final. the logic here is that at the final defense, the committee has already agreed and signed off. as long as you do what you said in the proposal, there are no problems. at the proposal stage, however, they can hate it and tell you "are so very wrong."*
wish me luck. but only silently. i am not talking about it until after it is all done.
* i've heard that several times in the past week from one of my committee members. i'm still going in with my head held high (although nervously).
update: i passed.
