Larry Traylor wrote that there are no policies specifically governing cell assignments for sex offenders or inmates who are known victims of molestation. So do we blame this guy? He vowed not to be raped in prison. Everyone knew it. Is this just a mistake of the review of his 'case-by-case basis?'
The fact that an inmate is a convicted sex offender may or may not impact the decision regarding who he lives with. Cell assignment decisions are handled on a case-by-case basis.
"He had asked not to be stuck in a cell with a child molester, flat out, plain and simple," his aunt, Patricia Nelson, said in an interview. If convicted, he could face the death penalty because the crime took place in prison.
Frankie Venable (the accused killer here) was convicted in 2001 of carjacking, robbery and related charges in Virginia Beach and was sentenced to serve an 18-year term. During his trial, it came out that he was molested by is mother's boyfriend as a child. I know that the correctional system is overcrowded and chaotic in itself. But you think that someone could pay just a tad bit of attention to things like this. Couldn't they have locked him up next to, oh anyone, he had not vowed to kill?
