so now i'm conservative?

in today's opinion section of The Virginian-Pilot, there is an article written by a Chesapeake woman who declared that she was voting for Kerry because she was conservative. but let me quote her:

I want a strong president who will conserve the environment, conserve our military to act only when necessary, conserve our positive relations with other nations, conserve our Constitution as it is, conserve our spending and not run up a huge deficit, and conserve the basic principles of our republic- individual freedom, the opportunity for advancement and a government responsive and accountable to all the people.
