good news first. the zoo is getting new animals! a red panda, three kangaroos, two hornbills and five peacocks will make their grand entrances within a month. apes, bears, tapirs, otters, and a sumatran tiger is due to arrive in the coming years. i am excited by this. there is no reason why the VA Zoological Park has to suck like it has. years ago, it was awful. they made some awesome renovations and expansions and it really spiced things up. i look forward to an even better zoo.
bad news for the state: Study says Virginia leads nation in children aging out of foster care. VA came in at 21 percent of foster children "age out" of the system in 2004, compared to a national rate of 8 percent.
the ugly is the contination of the dogfighting case involving michael vick. or not involving him, allegedly, since the police cannot find any evidence to tie him to it. i, personally, don't buy it. it's sad for those 66 dogs.
it was either this story for the slot, or gas prices. it's all ugly.
