the bad boys of sports
I should stop referring to the killers and woman-beaters on the ravens team and the pedophiles on the steelers team if I don't want to hear back about the dog killer on my team (the eagles). However, the way I see it, the difference is that our player actually paid his debt to society through the conventional means (the criminal justice system).
It has been suggested the NFL is full of criminals, found on any team. While this is true, I don't see it as a reflection of professional sports, but of society as a whole. Criminality is found everywhere, even among those you wouldn't suspect.

superbowl
i don't care what anyone says. i am pretending the eagles are playing in the big game this year.
i wish my tv was magnetic... i would add little green jerseys to the players.

I hear ya, redskins fans
so this is what it feels like to be 4-7...
my suggestion for the eagles: acquire the entire kansas city defense.

CBS programming
i was wondering why our CBS station had infomercials on yesterday during the early football game. [it didn't impact me since i was watching the redskins game on fox, but it was curious they didn't have another game on.]
today, i see the answer. WTKR/CBS posted this: "Sorry Steelers fans, NFL broadcasting rules state that if a local club (in this case, the Redskins) is playing the early game, the other network (us), cannot air a game at the same time. Hence, the paid programming. These are decisions made not by us, but by the NFL, FCC, and networks."

heading out west
what an exciting day! busy packing and cleaning and charging all the electronic devices today. heading to san francisco in the morning. so excited.
no blogging for me in the next week. pics to post when i return.
update: i know i said no more posts - but i can't help but to shout out to the eagles just scoring five TDs in a row. oh happy day.

i am about to do something i've never done before...
though it sickens me (i just threw up in my mouth a little), i'm rooting for the dallas cowboys tonight. this does not, however, mean that i am chaning my 'dallas sucks' wallpaper on my phone.

eagles fly, falcons do not
great game, and great fun, for the eagles today.* though it didn't matter, and i know it was windy out there, but i think this must be the first time ever akers missed three field goals in a game!
* let's hope jackson is not badly injured. that was heartbreaking.

eagles vs. redskins
or a better way to put it, mcnabb's return to philly, today.
i'm excited for the big game. think we should all remember this: mcnabb's five best moments in philadelphia.

hooray for football
it was an uneventful weekend all in all. but sunday was awesome due to the return of football. yes, the eagles lost, but it was fun to enjoy the game. and how about vick?! the redskins (mcnabb's) win over the cowboys was something else; what a game.
in other news, i had the most awful night's sleep last night. i was stuck in a dream that repeated itself over and over again. i kept reliving the same moments from different angles and with varying outcomes. i felt as if i awoke every five minutes. as of now, i am trying to cram in some coffee before work. i have another fifteen minutes....

my boyfriend's gone and there's gonna be trouble
mcnabb's been traded to the redskins!
McNabb leaves Philadelphia with virtually every franchise passing record. Reid reiterated once again, as he has many times in the past, that McNabb will be a Hall of Fame quarterback one day. Reid believes that McNabb's legacy should be that he is "the greatest quarterback ever to play for the Philadelphia Eagles to this point."i'm devastated. kolb will be QB but i blame vick.

the success of production is dependent upon how you measure it
i have not been working on my papers lately. instead, things like shopping, wrapping, and football has consumed my time. at first, i was bothered by this, but i have come to realize it is okay. it is the holidays.
football came three days in a row this past weekend, but i am bit sorry that i missed 'men of a certain age.' especially just to see the redskins get killed anyway.

end of semester
yesterday was consumed with grading papers. this morning, i dropped the kid off at a synagogue in portsmouth to go play laser tag with their youth group. fun for her, i hope.
again today, i am spending my day grading (today's batch is evaluating the final project, where i had students create webpages and write annotated bibliographies) which has its up and downs. but this lousy, rainy day is a good one to do it. my goal is to get them all done early so my attention can be turned to sunday night football later (fly eagles, fly).
update: i feel compelled to tell the world that i just ate a peanut butter, banana, and marshmallow fluff sandwich for lunch.

it's monday, september 14
my computer is still on the fritz, however, i am still alive and well. just not spending as much time in front of the machine. here are a few bits:
it's after ten, and i am still deciding whether to watch leno.
kanye west is an pig.
rip patrick swayze. i cannot fathom how different my life would have been if not for dirty dancing.
a new FBI report says we are arresting someone for marijuana every 37 seconds. what a waste.
the eagles game was a lot of fun yesterday.

bits
the computer is now better, although not great. but i'm back online. although without flash and pdf reader, i am limited. [these will not install due to some remaining problems.]
the weekend saw ODU win it's first football game in 69 years. [i hate that headline, it was the first football game in 69 years, and yes, it was a win. a bit misleading.] friday came with the news that braces are in our future. and the zoo was nice yesterday.
today, the kid went happily off to her first day of seventh grade. wow.
today i will go to my second week of classes. it's into the thick of things now.
the weather is not forgiving today. pouring rain. lovely.

ODU football
"The Monarchs received requests for 14,859 season tickets for a team that has yet to play a game," while expecting only about 6,600. over one thousand requests were turned down. "Only one Football Championship Subdivision program in the country - Montana - will have a season-ticket base this season larger than ODU. "
this means i won't be able to make it to a game for forever.

celebrity football news
i know that title sounds funny. i don't generally care about celebrity news so i am not sure when this happened and for how long i missed it. but for some reason, it makes me happy: Tony Romo dumped Jessica Simpson.
in related football news, Ben Roethlisberger is accused of sexual assault, civilly.
