sam's

just got the news that my favorite bar/restaurant is closing down later this month. this is sad news, indeed. i've had many good times and met great people there over the years.

sure, there are other places in walking distance to my house, but none as cool.

further, it is being replaced by chipotle, a chain restaurant. i fear that ghent may be losing it's charm.

spring flowers

i couldn't wait any longer... i planted flowers.

and i had a little fun with the editing.

a walk on this beautiful sunday led me to these. the rain from the week has lovely results.

beach day

spent the afternoon at the beach yesterday. you have to look very carefully to see what is going on in this first pic (maybe enlarge), but that's eric chasing down someone's lost beachball. the second pic shows that he was not successful.

it was a valiant effort. and quite funny.

on a bright sunny day

taken last weekend when the weather was nice. today has been rainy and windy, but it is starting to clear up.

pics from today

obviously, a close up of the fountain below

as per summer usual, we have been taking a long walk everyday. here are some snapshots from today's journey. just a few reminders that we live in a beautiful neighborhood [just like the many other pics that are evidence of this fact.]

two days ago it wasn't so hot

and we had a nice long walk.

here are some random pics from around the neighborhood. there's a bird in a tree, a snail from the river, and a squirrel the kid named pistachio. i'm not sure if you can tell in this pic, but a portion of his tail was missing.

google maps

i found my house on streetview [and the flowers are on the balcony so the pic must have been taken in spring, but it's an old pic because the houses they tore down on the corner are still in the shot]. i didn't see my car in the parking lot, but eric's truck is there on the street.

garden outing

the weather is unseasonably wonderful and the kid and i took advantage of that yesterday with a visit to Norfolk Botanical Gardens. i took lots of pics [dare you to catch it!].

on a side note - there is a fly in here driving me nuts!
